Global Issues Analysis Paper

I've been working super hard on my paper. I did a lot of research to prepare myself for this paper, and I can't wait to finish it so I can see the final result. I'm hoping I can get an A on it. We've been working on the research since December, and we're finally getting to the paper. My topic is about the care of the disabled in Mexico. I have a lot of good arguments to support my thesis.

In class, I worked on it non-stop when we were in the library. So far, I have a detailed outline. I was a little behind at first, but now I'm starting to catch up. I definitely know I can get it done by Friday. I have no doubts about that. But I'm just worried whether or not I have enough research. So far, I'm doing pretty good with research.

Dance Moms

Recently the newest season of "Dance Moms" has come on. It's the second season in the series about young girls who dance, and the drama that goes on backstage. It doesn't just focus on the mom, but also focuses on the girls too. This dance team is full of talented young girls who travel all around the country. i don't get how, because I don't really know any parent that would spend so much on dance.

Honestly though, I love this show. I love watching the girls dance because they are extremely talented for such a young age. They usually place first whenever they go to competitions, and it doesn't surprise me because they are amazing! But what surprises me the most is that the moms cause more drama than the girls. They're always getting into fights about who's daughter is better, and the show itself is just entertaining.

Pretty Little Liars- 2

This week, I read the same book Pretty Little Liars. So far I don't want to put it down. I think I might actually read it this weekend as a stress relief. I have heard a lot about the book and series. The book is about a group of girls who get separated once their best friend is found dead. There is one mystery bringing  them together. "A" keeps using their past secrets against them, and they have to find out who is the person doing it.

I've always wondered if secrets really do keep friend super close. They're the ones that you trust them with. When a friendship ends, you're scared that person might reveal all of them. This book made me realize how close friendships can be tested. Through thick and thin, friends are always there. I know I sound super corny, but it's definitely true.

Softball

Now that I'm at EHS, I decided I would do softball. As most people know at the school, my dad is the coach of high school baseball. Most people kind of expected me to play softball automatically. My family lives, breathes, and eats baseball. It's basically in my blood.

There was one thing that scared me the most about softball though; I had never played. I was so worried I would be one of the worst players on the team, and make a fool out of myself. I know I had watched more baseball games than anyone in their life would want to, but it still made me nervous. I wasn't exactly "properly trained", but with the help of my dad, I was a little bit more prepared to go to practice.

So far, I've been doing pretty good. I'm not the best on the team, but I'm not the worst. I don't think I'm that amazing, but I'm picking it up pretty quick. I noticed one of my strong points is bunting. Hopefully, I'll be able to be one of the best players on the team, but I know that won't be for awhile.

Pretty Little Liars

The book I read is called Pretty Little Liars. I know I'm a little late since everyone has read the books, and seen the TV series, but I finally decided to read it. The plot of the story is really interesting and original.

While reading this, I didn't want to put it down. Even in the beginning, I found the plot interesting. The book is about a group of five girls, who are all bound together by secrets. They all adore one girl in particular, Alison. Most girls would do anything to be like her. While at one of the girl's houses, named Spencer, they were all playing a game when Alison left. After that, they couldn't find her for years, and their friendship with one another ended. But they soon became reunited because of those secrets, and the mystery of who killed Alison.

Snowball

This weekend I went to a cotillion dance called Snowball with my friend Billie. There are two types of cotillions: Elan and Baton Rouge. I went to both of the winter dances which were Hollyball and Snowball. I'm in neither of them, but people can bring guests, and I was invited to both of the dances.

The dances weren't really that fun. At Hollyball, I thought the dance was okay, but it wasn't that much fun. At Snowball, it was really boring though. No one really danced, and we weren't allowed to take our shoes off or we'd get in trouble by a chaperone. I was wearing strappy high heels, and they were cutting into my feet the entire night. I guess I learned my lesson; never wear heals to an Elan dance. Next time I think I'm gonna stick with flats.

One good thing that came out of both dances though was that I got to see my old friends from school. I realized how much I missed them, and didn't really talk to them anymore. Another good thing was that at both dances they give you party favors. I got a pair of black sweatpants from Hollyball, and a red sweatshirt from Snowball.

New Year's Resolutions

This New Year, I made a few resolutions. The first thing I told myself I would do this year is get all A's on my report card. I want to do better this semester to have a shot to get into a good college. My dad has been encouraging me to do better and not settle for B's, so I decided it's time to do better. I want to get more organized, that way I can get all my work done and still have some free time. I want to work on my problems with procrastination, because I'll end up getting better grades.

I also want to take advantage of extra credit opportunities. If I do, I have a better shot at getting the grades I want.  I've decided that I should study more for tests, because tests are a big percentage of my grades. I usually don't study well for most tests, and I'm going to need to improve on my study skills for when it's extremely important in college. I wanna study at least 3 days in advance for a test, and to look over the material at night so I have a better concept of what we're learning.
